Summary of the 4th BioHorizon International Brokerage Event10.08.2018
The 4th BioHorizon International Brokerage Event took place in conjunction with the Societal Challenge 2 Info Day organised by the EC. With around 230 participants from 32 countries and over 500 bilateral meetings, the event again proofed to be a high-quality international matchmaking event for the Societal Challenge 2 and KET-Biotechnology topics.
Following a welcome address given by Mrs. Bożena Podlaska, coordinator of the BioHorizon network, the keynote speakers Mr. Jyrki Suominen, European Commission’s Deputy Head of the Bioeconomy Directorate's Strategy Unit, DG Research and Innovation, and Mr. Czesław Siekierski, MEP, Chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, contributed to the plenary session. The session further included the presentation of an experienced evaluator, Mrs. Myrsini Christou, from the Center for Renewable Energy Sources, Greece, and practical information about the bilateral meeting sessions by Ms. Katerina Papadouli, Bio NCP from Greece and main organizer of the brokerage event.
The second part of the morning was dedicated to 3 parallel sessions with selected flash presentations for the areas of Sustainable Food Security, Blue Growth + KET Biotechnology and Rural Renaissance.
The main part of the event was dedicated to bilateral meeting sessions as an excellent opportunity to meet high quality potential project partners as validated by the participants (at least 23 collaborations are already agreed and 202 further collaborations are possible).
