Fisheries-related research has been continuously funded under FP7 and H2020. Around 20 of such projects have been funded in FP7 and, so far, 7 in H2020. Additionally, DG MARE also funded several studies in the field of fisheries. However, the extend to which these aspects have really been covered remains to be investigated. Moreover, there was a topic on fisheries management regionalisation (SFS-20-2017) that did not lead to any successful project.

Chaired by DG RTD & DG MARE, this workshop will bring together representatives of several European Commission DGs (RTD, MARE, ENV, DEVCO), Programme Committe and SCAR-Fish members, and coordinators of related projects that, on a pitching approach, will present what their projects developed/discovered and what remains to be developed. A world cafe based process will be used to promote the discussion around ideas on research gaps, as well as on the reasons behind the lack of interest for the regionalisation topic, followed by a general plenary discussion.
