The Our Ocean Conferences are looking for commitments to develop effective regional networks of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), and to support them with sufficient economic resources, technical capacity and participatory sustainable management.

Since 2014, Our Ocean conferences, have invited world leaders to look forward and respond, delivering high-level commitments and transforming the challenges ahead into an opportunity for cooperation, innovation and entrepreneurship.They have brought about 250 concrete actions across the world, committing over 8.2 billion Euros (US$ 9.2 billion) and designating 9.9 million square kilometres as new MPAs. The 2017 edition of the Our Ocean Conference – An Ocean for Life will build on these results, making further contributions to marine protection and the sustainable development of the Blue Economy across the world.
